3 Things You Can Do After Retirement To Spend Your Time Meaningfully
Updated: Dec 22, 2021
Are you over 50 and at a loss of what to do because of Covid-19? If yes, then this article is perfect for you! Today, we’ll be introducing you to 3 fun and enriching things you can do to keep yourself occupied during this holiday season!
1. Learn a new skill

Learning is a lifelong process and the holidays are a perfect time for one to learn a new skill, regardless of where you are in life! If you’re employed/ semi-retired, learning a new skill can future-proof your career by deepening your skills, knowledge and experience beyond your current qualifications and expertise, allowing you to remain relevant in any field or industry. If you are fully retired, this is the perfect way of developing an active, healthy mind so that you won’t feel bored.
One of the ways you can learn a new skill is through SkillsFuture! If you’ve never heard of it, SkillsFuture is a national movement to provide Singaporeans with the opportunities to develop their fullest potential throughout life, regardless of their starting points. Last year, a one-off SkillsFuture Credit of $500 was provided to every Singapore Citizen aged 40 to 60 as at 31 December 2020. You can use this credit for SkillsFuture@PA courses offered by the People’s Association, selected courses under National Silver Academy and more! All you have to do is log in to your Singpass account before you can sign up for any course you’re interested in. You can also find jobs on the portal if you’re considering looking for a source of income! More information on SkillsFuture and its jobs and courses can be found here.
Here are some possible courses to consider:
NSA- Computing for Seniors (Windows 10)
NSA- Rethink 50: Be Active and Relevant
NSA- Rethink 50: Preparing For Change
2. Navigate the Internet

If you struggle to keep up with the ever changing technology in society, this could be for you! Seniors Go Digital has launched a Seniors Go Digital Activity Pack where you can pick up skills like making online transactions, communicating with loved ones online, and protecting yourself from scams, which are increasingly important in today’s fast paced world.
You can choose to head down to your nearest SG Digital Community Hubs (locations here), where Digital Ambassadors will be located to provide 1-on-1 guidance on a customised package tailored to equip you for a digital life, or you could learn from their specially curated, 30-minute online interactive classes each week!
