5 New Year's Resolutions And How To Actually Fulfil Them
If I had a dollar every time I didn’t manage to fulfil a new year’s resolution, I’d be rich.
I’m sure we’ve all thought of the above statement at least once in our lives. New year’s resolutions often feel out of reach, and the feeling of not being able to attain our goals often leaves us dejected and directionless. Interestingly enough, the failure to fulfil our new year’s resolutions doesn’t usually stem from a lack of willpower and discipline, but from a lack of careful and measured planning.
With the start of 2022, many of us are thinking about our resolutions for the year. In this article, we’ll be going over 5 broad new year’s resolutions for 2022, as well as some concrete steps you can take to achieve them.
Explore Your Creativity
Let’s face it — work can be pretty draining. Although it’s difficult to control the amount of work we have, it is important for us to make full use of the remainder of our time to rest and recharge. Hence, exploring your creativity can be a great way of practising self-care!

A good way of exploring your creativity would be through food. Cooking allows us to de-stress while enjoying the fruits (sometimes literally) of our labour. All of us have probably (1) bought a product (2) disliked it and (3) thrown it away at least once over the past 2 years. At SampleLah, we aid you in reducing unnecessary waste through sampling. Through this, you can first try out a product before purchasing it, reducing waste in the long run. Keep your eyes peeled for the points system we’ll be introducing soon!
Exercise Mindfulness

With the surge in Omicron transmissions worldwide, the future of the pandemic remains a question to be answered. As we face the uncertainty of the pandemic situation, exercising mindfulness can be a good way for us to regulate our thoughts and emotions.
This can be done through keeping a daily reflection journal where you write down what you’re grateful for, or through calming activities like meditation. If you’re interested in the latter, you can check out apps like Headspace and Calm, which provide free meditation sessions and courses.
Spread Positivity and Kindness
As the pandemic continues to affect every aspect of our lives, we’re bound to feel isolated and at some point, disillusioned. In these circumstances, all of us would appreciate having someone or a community to lean on, to let them know that they are not alone. As such, express your appreciation for those around you — your friends, family, and even those that you haven’t talked to in a while. A little kindness sure goes a long way, and during this time, having a support system is of utmost importance.
